Rock Mills Heritage & Pottery
Day
April
13, 2013
Rock Mills, Alabama has a rich history in hand
thrown folk pottery. During the mid 1800s geological surveys discovered high
quality clay and potters from North & South Carolinas migrated to this area
and a new “Jug Town” was formed. Many potter families toiled while digging,
processing, and throwing beautiful utilitarian pottery. Today that pottery is
highly collected and searched for around the southeast. Come and enjoy the Rock
Mills Heritage & Pottery Day where collectors of folk pottery, antique furniture,
arts, crafts, domino tournament, historic displays, pottery demonstrations, and
a consignment auction will take you back to a time that was a little slower pace.
